:thumb: Bought this kit as my first go at brewing beer, I used muntons beer enhancer instead of sugar and hoped for the best. It finished formenting on day 4 after an initial slow start. First reading was 1040 and final after leaving it 10 days was 1010, so not too bad. Bottled it on day 10 and put 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar in 500ml bottles, tasted pretty good then, so i have high hopes for this brew. Easy kit to use, as are the wine kits they do, Couple of weeks and I think i will have a ver
y enjoyable drink, will let you know.

Been gassing up now for 8 days, could'nt wait, had to try one, tasted excellent, not to fizzy and a good head. Considering its not really ready yet, I think its going to be quite a nice drink, can't wait to try one again in a few weeks. :thumb:

Been about 8 -9 weeks now and can honestly say IT IS FABULOUS what a good pint, will be doing another batch soon so i dont run out :drink:

Heh heh! This was my first brew too! It was very bitter, but I was very impressed with it. TheRange have discontinued the stout, but they tell me its the same as the Better Brew range, just with different packaging.

I was drinking it in summer, and found it went very well with raspberries. I think "raspberry & chocolate stout" could be on the cards.

The packaging on the "MakeYourOwn" Irish Stout says 4.9%. I didn't use a hydrometer since this was my very first brew, so I can't confirm the ABV.

From the makeyourowndrinks website :-
  • Bitter 4.2%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • IPA 4.7%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Nut Brown Ale 4.1%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Premium Larger 4.4%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Apple Cider 4.8%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Pear Cider 4.3%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Red Wine 11.5%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • White Wine 11.8%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
  • Rose 11.8%[/*:m:1xvmelx5]
