I've just picked one up from HomeBrew Supermarket very cheep and with two kits of bitter each making 20pnts, good enough that's the equivalent of a 2 can 40 pnt kit.

Now here's the rub, I don't really want an other 40 pnts of bitter, I have a batch of Festival Landlords waiting to get good.

So is there anything interesting that I could use one of the bitter kits as a basis for? Use it with a partial extract add hops errr I don't know.

What do you think?

Many Thanks aamcle

Depending what it actually is you,ll need to be careful not to upset the balance as it will already have had the hops added to make a rounded finish, the chances are as you say you,ll be able to use as a base and change the original hop profile as bitters are generally lowish ibu, it will obviously be down to what you have in the cupboard unless you,re looking to buy in ingrediants to make whatever beer you decide and also equipment do you do full or partial mash

sounds like a blank canvas, maybe some dermera sugar plus P, mash with some pale and dark crystal, should make a lovely old ale if given a nice english yeast and some extra hops in tea form lightly boiled (5mins max) and steeped (30mins) in some of the extract and bunged into the fermentor (keeping them in a bag helps) remove when active ferment finished squeeze and bottle once beer fully done should be tasty and strong
