my girlfriend offered me this kit, i would like to no some opinions!!!

with that she offered me also liquid dark malt!! this works like the dme???? how, and when should i add it???before the kit, with water, without??

i would like to have some opinions about this kit!!!

Morning , no idea on kit but the liquid extract is similar to the kit extract (which has been hopped) just use it the same as your kit , washed out with hot water .
 
I would just do "Kit, kettle of boiling water, liquid malt, kettle of boiling water, stir like crazy and fill with cold", done.

i was asking to the guy from the brewery shop, and he said to me, that he is selling a lot this kit lately, because who tries it once, also does it again....so i dont know...

he is one of my best friends, no reason to lie to me....i know the type of bfeer and just wanted a opinion about his kit.....
 
after 3 days bubles decreased to half, and i mesured the gravity, and was 1020- og was 1040

fementation temperature 17ºC to 19ºC.

Is this normal going down so fast?? or its because this beer has a low abv???

Most of the fermentation completes in the first 3-5 days. The fermentation usually follows a descending curve. So it might be say, 90% complete after 3-5 days, 95% complete after 6-10 days and 99% complete after 9-14 days etc.
 
I tried the Better Brew Value Midland Mild last year and it was mild brown and refreshing. I tried the same kit this year and it turned out fairly strong, bitter and not exactly refreshing. I think a lot of this is just difference in how I brewed it. I think the first time I used spray malt instead of sugar.
 
my house is cold and its difficult for me to keep temperatures above 17ºC without ac because last two days were colder....but thursday i putted the batch in a bath for 4 hours with temperatures between 23ºC and 19ºC (satarted with 23º and when took it out had 19ºC), then yesterday i mesured gravity and was 1012!!!! i did the same, putted again in a bath with the same temperatures.....i m thinking to mesure it today to check how is it....next week i will travel and would like to have it already bottled!!! i was doing it well, with the baths??

how much sugar i should add for the carbonation???

i tried it yesterday, and was already nice the taste, coffe and caramel, and a litle bit rostier :thumb: just missing the a bit more the hops :?

Temp depends on the yeast. I think most ale yeasts are fine down to 17/18C. Some down lower still. Lager yeasts down to freezing (almost).

The cooler you ferment the slower and more careful the yeast are and the cleaner the beer. High temps cause them to produce lots of unwanted stuff and ferment faster.

Personally I do the opposite to you, I have to put mine in a bath of cold water to get them down to 18C. Then after 5 days or so when the airlock stops I stop adding the water and let it rise to 22C to make sure the yeast don't go to sleep before they finish up.
 
but here its impossible...my house is to cold......so, i will let until monday, then i mesure the gravity...if it stays the same i bottle it :thumb:
 
so, i bottled my mild yesterday, after nine days of fermentation! the FG was 1012 - OG was 1040 - i mesured three days follow.

i transfered it to a secondary where i had already the sugar primed with 300ml of warm water, let it there for 3 hours, then bottled!!!
the beer had already a pretty dark clear look, nice smell from coffee, chocolate and caramel, and the taste was nice too!!!

but i think i over primed a little bit....instead of 6grs of table sugar i put 7 grs... i dont mind with a fizzy ale, just afraid that stays sweet.... :?

now i will have a couple of days in a warmer place then i put it in a colder place.

because is a beer with a low abv will take less time to be ok???

Sorry for the quality of the fotos :(

so i bottled only at monday, but i had to try it, because i will travel in next days......was stronger than i :grin:
so the taste is nice, still a little bit the aroma and smell from the yeast but i m realy happy with it :party:
i give it to my mom to try it and she enjoyed, she drank almost all the bottle ;)




 
it is a little bit to fizzy fro an ale, but its ok for me!!! here in Portugal the beer is always more fizzy.....
