Evening all

This is really more of an annoyed rant than a discussion and potential use case for others who may be experiencing a similar issue.

Encountered a fairly annoying issue with my RAPT Pill wireless charging pad.
To sum it up, it straight up does not work.
First time I've actively had to use the charging pad tonight. Bought an upgrade kit for my existing pill and a second preassembled wireless charging ready pill. Both charged via cable last time.

Put my Red Pill on to wirelessly charge last night and come back from work today to find it had only got to 8%. Frustratingly, delaying me getting a stout from my cube into the fermenter tonight.
(Yes I could gave done it anyway but I like my pill in there too as it's linked to my temp controller and portal for profile use.)

Playing around with it today made me think thay it's to do with the USBC port on the charging pad itself as its not great and every cable I used seemed to work better in one orientation than the other.
It was only charging for a matter of minutes before it stopped and refused to charge any more.
Eventually it just stopped charging altogether, it wouldn't recognise the pill on it without a physical disconnect and reconnect of the wire.

I eliminated the idea of it being the pills themselves as I used my phone to charge them and there wasn't an issue at all with them charging.

I can thankfully charge them with my phone and I have another wireless charger at my desk in work so will be bringing my pill into work tomorrow to charge.

Really just a vent of frustration at something that the cheap build quality of this pad has been it's detriment. I absolutely adore using my pills as an additional tool.

So aye. If you've experienced or are experiencing similar issues, hopefully my nightmare can shed some light on another avenue of investigation as to why it went wrong.

Rant over.
Cheers🍻

Sounds like you have a faulty USB socket on yours. Mine works absolutely fine.

I once bought a pil, never again will i use one it would just not do what it said on the tin, lucky for me i got my money back, i hope you have more success than i did
What do you mean it doesn’t do what it says in the tin? I track gravity and temperature all the way through fermentation and it works very well. I even tested it against my hydrometer the first couple of brews (before I broke my hydrometer yet again) and it was within 0.002 of the gravity at both ends of fermentation.

I even went out and bought one of the Rapt temperature controllers to replace my Inkbird so I could link them together and control the temperature based on the Pill.

Mine worked once then wouldn't do anything, maybe i am being a little harsh but all credit to AHB who gave me a full refund
I've had nothing but success with mine tbf and can also attest to MickDundee too that after I done an advanced calibration I was getting very accurate and reliable results. It'll never replace my hydrometer however. It's just an add on that I use as a guideline and I draw some off to check it for clarification.
Now I have the wireless kits I'll be doing a custom calibration across multiple points for even greater accuracy again.
I even went out and bought one of the Rapt temperature controllers to replace my Inkbird so I could link them together and control the temperature based on the Pill.
I used the pill once and immediately knew I needed a temperature chamber with temp control. RAPT temp controller was a worthy purchase imo.
The feature combination on them is great.

More hassle than it's worth at the moment, currently sat at my desk in work with my pill on the wireless charger I have here in the office and hasn't been an issue with it charging in the last 30 minutes at all.

Also the tinkerer in me has opened up the charging pad to see how easy it would be to replace the USBC port on it to see if I can get it functional again. Gives me something to do in the evenings if I'm not studying lol

Got to admit i think mine is absolutely awesome linked with the controller. Should have come out initially as wireless that would have saved a load of issues.
I use mine in bluetooth so don't have any of the connection issues. Guess your charging Base must have been. Poorly
