My father died rather suddenly on the 2nd October last year. He made a cup of tea in the morning, took it back to his bedroom, sat on the bed and died. We didnât even know anything was wrong with him. Whilst it was nice to know he didnât suffer, he was taken from us far too early and we never got the chance to say goodbye.
Next Thursday will be the first anniversary of his passing and I want to brew something of my own that would have done him proud. This is R.I.P.
23L, 60% brewhouse efficiency;
6.4Kg Pale Malt
300g Crystal
40g Roast Barley
30g Chocolate Malt
90 min mash & 90 min boil
50g Challenger (6.1%) 90 mins
45 g Goldings (5%) 90 mins
140g Treacle (20 mins)
40g Hallertauer 15mins
Beersmith predicts OG 1059, 39IBU
I was after a deep red, winter type ale. Iâm only using the treacle as I have some left over from the stout I made recently - if those more experienced see any obvious mismatches, please let me know. As I say, Iâll be brewing next Thursday. :pray:
