I am a leeds United fan but how could you not be impressed by this man. I remember when he refused to celebrate the goal that sent Man United down to the then second division you could see the angst in his face as he turned away and just walked back.

His goal didn't send United down. Other results meant they were relegated anyway. He didn't know that at the time though.

Bill Shankly was his mentor at Huddersfield he got his eye fixed and fed him properly. When Bill left to manage Liverpool ( on Matt’s recommendation ) he wanted to bring Denis with him, but Liverpool were a second division team then and couldn’t afford him. City sighed him and after a year left for Torino and after a year there joined United, the rest is history.
