I think I know the answer to this but just in case...

I have an APA that has been in the primary for 2 weeks. I plan to rack it into a corny today but thought I would fill 8 bottles too so I can take some round to a mate's house. We're off to visit them on the 28th Dec.

Is there any chance the bottled beer will be conditioned and carbontaed by then??

Can I force carbonate in a corny keg for a few days and then rack into bottles from the keg??

If you bottle you will be looking at 5 days in a warm room to carbonate and then another 4 weeks in a cool place to condition so the answer to that question would be no :D

As for bottling from a corni. It COULD be done but again the beer realy needs to be left in the corni for a few weeks to be in prime condition.

what about racking from a corny keg into one of those 8 pint metal can things a day or two before we visit?

I feared as much!!! :?

Im not saying if you force carb and bottle from the corni the beer will be bad just not at its best. If you bottle from the corni on the morning you go to your mates you may be able to get away with it. It could even be a good leason in how a beer improves with age :thumb: .

If you have a search around then you will gfind some stuff about cooling beer to re bottle it without losing too much carbonation - that combined with the possibility of forced carbonation would take care of your fizz , but the taste ? I dont know of any substitute for time , the old 10 points to a week thing ....but thats not to say one doesnt exist ! Just that I dont know , like I dont know where to find the references to re bottling except by saying search , which I realise isnt immensly helpful - sorry mate !
