Hi all

Quick one... if I was to add raisins to a WOW type wine:

Do I chop them up ?
Will they float, or sink ? (Ie is muslin baggie recommended )

I chopped mate , they sank (I think) but a muslin bag would keep it cleaner !

What ya cooking up ?

Rinse them under warm water first to remove the veg oil coating. You could possibly stew them in a slow cooker overnight to extract the goodness save you fishing them out of a DJ later on.

I just chucked them in whole to my matcha green tea wine, they floated but hasnt seemed to affected anything. Racked off couple of weeks ago and is vaguely drinkable to interested to see how it will end up

I rinsed them, simmered and used a muslin bag

I did rinse in cold water though, so have a mini (vegetable) oil slick on top of my brew... can always mop it up/off with kitchen roll when it's finished I suppose

Should have done that before pouring into the fv doh

Cheers chaps

I soak them in hot water to soften them, then run them through an electric mincer with the water. The pulp is then added to the fermenting must to extract flavour and sugar for 24 hours before straining.
