Hi,

I'm looking to do my BIAB, I've done full all grain in the past, however there's a few differences i need to understand before I brew this recipe.

I plan to brew a punk IPA clone as per below.

I want to aim for 20 litres so took this from DIY Dog.

Extra pale 4.38 kg
Caramalt 0.25 kg

Chinook 20g 60 minutes
Ahatum 12.5g 60 minutes
Chinook 20g 30 minutes
Ahatum 12.5g 30 minutes
Chinook 27.5g 0 minutes
Ahatum 12.5g 0 minutes
Simcoe 12.5g 0 minutes
Nelson Sauvin 12.5g 0 minutes

Chinook 47.5g dry hop
Ahatum 37.5g dry hop
Simcoe 37.5g dry hop
Nelson Sauvin 20g dry hop
Cascade 37.5g dry hop
Amarillo 10g dry hop

I guess my main questions are...

How much water should I start with (I have a 30 litre Peco boiler)

How much water should I sparge with, if any?

Also I'm open to any advice.

Cheers

A start point for mashing is about 2.5 - 3 litres of water per kilo of grain. If you're aiming for 20 litres of finished product then you need to allow for evaporation during boiling plus some losses transferring to the fermenter then from fermenter to bottling bucket. Exact amounts depend on your setup but I'd go with about 3 litres so you can sparge your until you're up to about 23 litres to start boiling. YMMV.

Have you tried plugging your values into some brewing software (several free versions are available)? Do you need to amend your hop quantities for 20 litres?

Definitely run the recipes through brewing software - some of the DIY Dog stuff needs a tweak even if it’s just for your efficiency.
