Is there a safe way to extend the lead on these things. I have one with two red and one white wires but they are very thin and flimsy. Can you just use a normal connector block or will it lose sensitivity. I dont suppose soldering would work as they are too thin

Soldering would work but I suggest a through crimp or 5A connector block

I soldered mine, never had any problems. I wasn't comfortable using a connector block due to the thin wires, movement at the block and potential for the wires to break, personal choice I guess, and recal as Jim says should compensate :thumb:

fyi i have 3 pin xlr plugs on my probe leads and xl3 sockets on the controller.

its actually cheaper to buy via ebay 1m or 2m 3pin xlr m/f extention leads than it is to knock up a custom lead ...

what type of wire did you use to extend it? I am thinking about increasing the length of mine as I only have 1m ones
Maplins sell a very similar wire to the standard PT100 stuff, it was listed as Wire BL09K (white) BL07H (red) both from Maplins but may have changed since then.

I needed 1/2 mtr to extended it so I went to B&Q and bought 10 mtrs of 7 strand alarm cable. Took it home cut 1/2 mtr off it and took it back the next day
