I'm sure big oil is quaking in their boots right about now. All it takes is for just one of the CEOs of big oil to be massively into snooker to bring about meaningful change after such a provocative and inspiring protest.

Everyone has the right to protest but is this not vandalism, i am no fan of snooker but feel sorry for the fans who had their evening ruined.

I don't like or support what they did, but I think once you start sending non-violent protestors to prison, you are setting a dangerous precedent.

There isn't enough room in prisons as it is but they definitely should be made to pay or do unpaid work (litter picking etc) if they cannot pay.

Ol' Barry Hearne is is looking to take civil action on behalf of those incurred expenses to attend and were unable to see what they paid for. If they can't do the time don't do the crime.

How about tagging with a curfew? Or getting them to report to a police station at regular intervals, something to inconvenience them as they have others? Or ban them from using any sort of transport that requires oil to function?

25 Animal Rising activists occupied the racecourse.

Several people have been arrested after animal rights protesters attempted to disrupt the Scottish Grand National.
Officers intervened after Animal Rising activists rushed onto Ayr racecourse before the 15:35 race won by Kitty's Light.
Police Scotland said a "significant operation" was taking place to "safely remove" protesters from the track.
Security at the course was ramped up after protests delayed the start of the Grand National last week.
The Scottish race started a couple of minutes late although animal rising said 25 of its supporters had occupied the racecourse.

The Ayr protest followed the death of horse Oscar Elite in the 13:50 race on Saturday.
Activists said they wanted to stop other horses from dying or coming to harm.
Animal Rising, which is seeking to highlight the exploitation of animals for sport and food, said it will continue with more race disruptions, alongside a series of farm occupations and animal rescues.
Police Scotland said: "We are responding to a protest which is ongoing at Ayr Racecourse this afternoon.
"A significant operation is under way to safely remove those involved. A number of arrests have been made and an increased police presence remains at the scene."

Ayr's managing director David Brown praised the swift action of the police and security teams on course.
He said: "The race went off to time, there was no notable delay and the professionalism of the team up here in Scotland was a credit to them, they dealt with it in a very efficient manner."
Following the Grand National at Aintree last week, Merseyside Police said they arrested 118 people over disruption which saw nine people enter the course.
Up to 17,000 people were expected at Ayr racecourse for the Scottish version of the race.
The Scottish Grand National was inaugurated in Ayrshire in 1867 and has taken place at Ayr since 1966.

t doesn't win anybody over and snooker is probably the lowest carbon footprint of all sports. If we're all going to die because of the oil, sprinkling some powder on a table is a pretty pathetic effort.

What they were saying on 5 live is if they don't do stuff like this no one discusses their cause so they have to inconvenience others and risk getting time in prison, what they don't seem to get even when it's pointed out that if you block traffic and stop emergency vehicles and people getting to doctors appointments people are not going to support you they will do the opposite and have no interest whatsoever in your cause.
