What size project boxes do people generally use when they make a temp controller unit and where's a good place to buy them from?

It's just going to have te stc1000 in with the cables and I'm doin a trailing extension lead out of it as it's going to be wall mounted I cant really do the plug built in as it's going to be in a arkward place

in that case you will need something big enough for the stc + the tail end of 3 cable glands for the power leads 1 in and 2 out, and a fourth for the sensor lead,

and room for a leggo brick style connector block with 9 connection sets.

xlr 3 pin microphone plugs n sockets make good sensor plugs as they can lock and are cheap on ebay.

for mounting on the wall the abs project boxes are ideal, But the budget option of a £shop snaplock sarnie box is also available ;)

but dimension wise look for something at least twice the size of the stc1000 alone to allow room for connector cables and gland backs..

for wiring up I strongly suggest u use colour coded flex wire so should you return to it later what wire is what is clearer, You will need more brown/live wire, than blue neutral or earth yellow/green as you will be bridging the stc1000 relays with the live wires for heating and cooling..

the lego brick connector is a must as the stc1000 terminals are not upto securely containing more than a single wire imho.

hope thats helpfull..

edit ps these issolating rotary switches

can be dismantled to leave a box i used one for a power controller ;)

tho that one i linked to seems to have a channel moulded into its top , but its just an example of the sort of thing u could pick up second hand
and use.
