chatting with a microbrewer today who told me to steer clear of household sugar for priming sayimg it was unreliable he told me to use glucose. Ive always primed with sugar and never really had any probs but always willing to listen and try new ways just wondered how much glucose id need to prime 5 gallon of AG

Theoretically, the sucrose will take longer to be metabolised by the yeast as it gets broken down into glucose and fructose before the yeast then metabolises those sugars. In practice, just for priming it won't make much difference. I do know one brewer who prefers glucose though.
