hi all,

I have a bag of pre weighed out priming sugar, enough for 40 pints.

My question is how do I ad this to the fermenter, and is there a set time I have to bottle it once I have added the priming sugar mix.

Thanks

I have a measuring spoon and add priming sugar using a funnel straing into each bottle. I used to use cabonation drops, but they are expensive, and hence I switched to the sugar. Better way however would be to boil the sugar to sanitize it and stir it into your fermented wort in a separate container (you would syphon your beer into this container, leaving all sediments in your fermenter, then bottle it.

I tend to rack into a bottling bucket to see how much beer I have, then work out the priming sugar amount. Then I dissolve the sugar in some water, boil it, cool it down, and add to the bucket. Give it a gentle stir and then bottle it.

Once you've primed it, it's best to bottle as soon as possible.

I tend to favour this method to adding directly to a bottle for sale of simplicity.
