Hi guys, just wondering what you would recommend as a priming sugar for a barrell, should I use brew enhancer or brewing sugar?, thanks.

What sort of barrel is it? Youngs budget type?
I just use either cane sugar or brewing sugar, wouldn't bother with brew enhancer it won't change the taste much and it's more expensive. 85grams is about right

No worries mate. Make sure you put a bit of Vaseline on the washer in the lid and be careful not to over tighten it too

or just use plain old granulated, it does exactly the same thing and no doubt cheaper :!:

+1 plain old sugar is fine, and allot cheaper, you won't be compromising in quality by using it as it doesn't make a difference as its such a small amount

I used 85 Grams last time and found it overpressured and leaked. I know its not the barrel because I'm 2 thirds of the way down it now and the beer it still incredibly lively and has to settle at least twice before I can get a full pint.

Sounds to me that maybe the brew hadn't quite finished and it's come down another point or two once in the keg leading to it being quite lively. 85grams shouldn't cause it to leak :hmm:

eggman, inside or outside the lid?

I meant on the large white washer inside the top of the lid :thumb: Without vaseline on it the friction of doing the lid up can cause the washer to unseat itself or distort and then you are likely have a gas leak. Learnt that the hard way when I started out
