Hi. I'm a new to this group but I have already got a question for you for professionals. I decided to condition my Brupaks bitter in cask before bottling (according to Graham Wheeler it is better to do like that). I primed the cask with half a teaspoon of Munton's Beer kit Enhancer per pint as advised. The question is: Should I prime beer again when I bottle it to produce CO2.... If yes, will it boost the alcohol content which is not desirable in my case.
Thank you in advance.
Happy brewing for everyone.
Cheers.

I think I remember reading something like that in Wheelers book. :hmm:

You would either prime for the cask or prime for bottling - it is not advisable to prime twice. Wheeler recommended a period of conditioning in a cask but if I remember correctly he did not recommend priming at this stage if you were subsequently going to bottle. Infact in one of my books he suggested not priming the bottles at all as bottling at the correct gravity and given enough time it will evevtually condition on it's own - trust me, you only do this once.

Not sure where this leaves you. You want to bottle but have already primed in the cask. I would leave it in the cask and get another beer on so that you can bottle that one. Most of us just bottle after primary fermentation as there does not appear to be any great benefit in an extended maturation period unless you are brewing some high gravity jobby.

If you get a chance look up the Batch Prime your Bottling how to.

Also with your concern for adding alcohol content when priming. It has been discussed on here previously and I you are only adding around 0.1% abv to you beer.
