Primary brew insulation

Hi all.

As we're heading into the colder months I've just been contemplating making some kind of insulating jacket for my 23l primary vessle. I'm brewing in my basement and I'm imagining it's going to get pretty cold down there December/January time...

Has any one done this before?

I'm thinking of basically; bubble wrap, tin foil, duct tape and an old jumper of some form...

Do you have any electric down there?

Just thinking an old cupboard or built in enclosure of some kind with a greenhouse tube heater controlled by an inkbird would be a great solution, the tube heater and inkbird would cost just under �£50

I've dropped an extension lead through the ground floor for a brewing mat.

Building an enclosure sounds like an excellent idea :-)

Build it big enough and you could use it for 2 fermenters and also bottles for carbing up

If you don’t want to bother with the inclosure(sounds a great idea though). I’ve used a inkbird and heat mat to great effect in the cold weather. I’m sure the combos are normally on eBay. Then I chuck a blanket over the fv.
