Proper thrift generally seems to involve steering away from brands that charge a premium for, well, just the name :evil:
For major appliances it is also worth looking for B grade, these are generally shipping damaged goods with cosmetic marks and dints.
You can often find real bargains on the big name brands simply because there is a scratch on the side.
Not a problem if it's going under the worktop
