Pressure gauge for king keg barrel

Hi can anyone recommend a seller to me so I can buy a pressure gauge for my king keg barrel

... I have decided to think about adding one!

My only reservation is that it is another way for the CO2 to escape ...

... but this is balanced by the ability to check to see if it is or is not escaping!

I noticed that the pressure gauge in both videos is only up to 15 psi (+/-1.0 Bar) so looking on Amazon they have these on offer ...

It's the same gauge as that being fitted in both videos so it should do the job.

PS You will probably need a connector (or at least PTFE tape, seals, nuts and washers) to fit the gauge to the cap. Local plumbing shop or B&Q should be able to provide that.

then use a digital tyre pressure gauge to see what's going on inside.

You can buy pressure gauges cheap enough on eBay but for me the �£2.50 a pair valves are cheaper neater and less cumbersome on your barrel cap.
And they're stainless so no tarnishing.
After fitting 5 I've never had a leak!

A really neat system!

I think it beats the full on pressure gauge and I happen to have a small analogue PG that I use to check the low pressure (10psi max) tyres on our quad-bike.

Did you use the rubber seals that came with them? I've got these but thought the aroma of the rubber might affect the beer. Did you have any problems?
I had also intended to use them to inject CO2 into the keg when the pressure drops i.e. not via the S30 valve.

The rubber seal is integral to the Schrader valve and cannot be removed, on the outside of the cap you have a nylon washer topped off with a steel one.you then tighten to force the rubber bit thru the hole in the cap,and no it doesn't impart aromas or flavours to the beer,well not IMO anyway

I used the rubber seals and no problem at all. The rubber is not in contact with your beer so shouldn't taint it.

S30 means you have control over the amount of pressure you put in at any one time. Using a bulb means you can only get what's in the bulb, no more, no less. :thumb:

If you give it a try and don't like it and you want a pressure gauge then you've lost £1 if you got one from China......so bin it, use the hole and fit a pressure gauge. :lol:

As an aside to this subject, I had one of my KK,s accidentally up to 20psi last week with no trouble at all, proving to me that you can force carb them as long as you use and keep attached the widget you can buy for the s30 valve that you can use your co2 tank with, if you have a dial/ clock in the cap you are stumped after15psi,if you sugar prime a KK I have found that it goes up to around 10 psi

Maybe I'll just risk the £1 on the ebay gauge and try it....would be great to be able to keep an eye on the barrel pressure.

There are various types of 2 inch caps. I have a Young's PB with no S30 valve, just a pressure relief valve. It can't be modified.
The 2 inch cap with the S30 valve in the centre leaves very little room to add anything (even a Schraeder-type tyre inflator) but you may just do it. You could buy a blank 2 inch cap, mount an S30 off centre and there would be just about enough room to add a pressure gauge.
I've decided to go down the route of drilling a hole in the shoulder of my Young's pressure barrel to attach a pressure gauge and CO2 filling system. It can be done (http://youtu.be/Xlqi2674r5A) but it'll be fiddly tightening the backnut.

Very clever and inventive and by having a quick peak at my half size budget barrel with the small cap I think its possible to get a shrauder valve in the body of the barrel just below the neck where's there's probability just enough room for fingers.gonna attempt it when its empty and I will report back

Often confused me...Why would anyone want to know the pressure of a King Keg barrel?
You can tell if there is enough pressure to pour a beer, by the simple fact...it doesnt come out.
