Potter must be mad to go there. Three bad results and he'll be under the cosh from the new owners. Done a brilliant job at Brighton, though.

Player of the month, i have a feeling he will win many more this season.

As the United v Everton game isn't going to change the top 4 here is this week's table, will arsenal be there at the end? -

We won at Everton a good result as we’ve got some hard games coming up. Whats happen to Liverpool and also to Salah, something is obviously wrong.

I didn't expect them to beat arsenal it'll be interesting to see how they handle the defeat when they play us on Sunday.

What a game, best i have seen this season, Pep must hate Kloppo and i take my hat off to young Harvey Elliott again and Milner who put a proper shift in, Nunez needs to learn it is a team a simple pass and it was 2-0

Good game we had 6 shots on target but it wasn't our day today.

It has been reported some fans were throwing coins at Pep why the **** do that when you are not being beat, there is a Liverpool fan on 5 live now blaming Pep for winding the crowd up and basically saying he deserved it what a 💩

'Forest showed a lot of character'

It is relief when you are down there. When you are not getting wins and not scoring goals.
It was almost a free hit today. Nobody expected them to win against a Liverpool side who beat Manchester City last week. We expected them to build from there.
Forest showed a lot of character today.

'A statement win'

This is a really good performance by Forest.
Talk about a statement win, this is the one. The one that gets them back on track.

Erling Haaland scored twice as Manchester City equalled a 91-year-old top-flight record in their 3-1 win against Brighton at the Etihad Stadium.

City were completing their 10th straight Premier League home win. They have scored at least three goals in all of them, something no side had done since Aston Villa, also across two seasons, in 1930 and 1931.

Haaland now has an incredible 17 goals in 11 league games - and 12 in his past five home games.

However, it was skipper Kevin de Bruyne who scored the best of the day, curling a superb shot into the top corner from 25 yards from Bernardo Silva's inside pass.

It ended hopes of a Brighton comeback, which were raised after Leandro Trossard's second-half effort beat Ederson from the corner of the area.

As it is, Brighton are still without a win under new boss Roberto de Zerbi, while Pep Guardiola's side close to within a point of leaders Arsenal.

Haaland the scoring machine

After failing to score at Liverpool last weekend, Haaland was on - for him - a barren run of two hours without a goal.

His opener emphasised how much speed, power and awareness he has.

City keeper Ederson deserves huge credit for launching a long ball from his penalty area over the top of the Brighton defence.

Seagulls keeper Robert Sanchez dashed out of his goal but Haaland beat him to the ball and knocked it past him. Then he barged Adam Webster out of the way before rolling the ball into an empty net.

It meant the longest Haaland has gone without a Premier League goal remains 148 minutes.

Pretty soon, he had another as he drove home a penalty after the video assistant referee stopped play to rule Lewis Dunk had fouled Silva.

That goal was Guardiola's 600th as City boss, a figure achieved in six and a half trophy-laden years that last week was marked by City being confirmed as 'Club of the Year' at the Ballon d'Or awards.

Not everything was perfect for City. Riyad Mahrez missed a glorious chance to put them three ahead just before Trossard's goal after being set up by De Bruyne. The Algerian looked distinctly unimpressed as he was replaced by Phil Foden.

And Aymeric Laporte needed treatment for an injury in stoppage time that might make him a doubt for Tuesday's Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund.

Brighton complaints

There were Brighton grievances against both City's first-half goals.

Webster was still complaining to referee Craig Pawson at the break that he was fouled by Haaland for the opening goal, while central defensive partner Dunk argued that Silva kicked him rather than the other way round for the penalty.

They were both debatable calls - and the type visiting teams need to go their way if they are to leave Etihad Stadium with anything.

It was pretty obvious Brighton's fourth place in the table when Graham Potter left for Chelsea was a false one and there were some tough games to come.

Nevertheless, that is two points from five games in charge now for De Zerbi before Potter's return to the Amex Stadium next Saturday.

There have been subtle tweaks to Potter's team by the Italian, who wants Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister to get on the ball more often in midfield, but a familiar Brighton failing of not scoring enough goals is becoming evident once more.

Trossard's goal fell into the speculative category. But he wasted Brighton's best chance to equalise when he sprinted into the box and, instead of trying to find a centrally placed team-mate, attempted to beat Ederson from an impossible angle.

Todays results and table.
BBC Sport.

Arsenal drop points, the commentators said they looked very tired.

Well done Newcastle (now fourth) i didn't think they would beat Spurs.

The owners of Liverpool FC have said they are open to offers, raising the prospect of the club being sold.

The Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which also owns the Boston Red Sox, bought the club in 2010, with it going on to win the Premier League in 2019-20 and the Champions League in 2019.

In a statement FSG said: "There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group's ownership in Liverpool.

"FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.

"FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch."

When the rumour first broke that he was thinking of joining Manchester city i said here i didn't want him not because he was a United player but because he was at the end of his playing career not the beginning, it was obvious he wouldn't take warming the bench well but at his age it was obvious to everyone else he wouldn't be playing every game did he really think he was going to be the main man.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester Utd explore legal action to force player's exit

Manchester United are exploring their legal options as they look to end Cristiano Ronaldo's time at the club.

It is accepted at United that Ronaldo cannot play for manager Erik ten Hag again following his fierce criticism of the Dutchman in his TalkTV interview.
He has just over seven months remaining on his £500,000-a-week contract.

United could terminate the Portuguese forward's contract, which would leave him free to sign for another club when the transfer window opens in January.

It is understood they are loathe to offer the 37-year-old any kind of pay-off given how strongly they feel about the situation.

The club want the matter dealt with quickly to avoid it spilling over into the second half of the season.

In his interview, Ronaldo said he felt "betrayed by the club" and stated he had "no respect" for Ten Hag, adding he felt he was being forced out of the club.

United responded on Friday with a statement to say they have "initiated appropriate steps" in response.

Ronaldo will captain Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar, with their opening Group H game against Ghana on Thursday.

He has not played because of an unspecified illness since he captained United in their 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa on 6 November

Ronaldo was dropped for the Premier League game at Chelsea last month by Ten Hag after refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham three days earlier.

The Red Devils, who beat Fulham 2-1 on Sunday, are fifth in the Premier League in Ten Hag's first season as manager.

United backing Ten Hag - analysis

Manchester United wanted to see the full extent of Cristiano Ronaldo's interview. Now they have acted.

The club are refusing to say what precisely 'appropriate steps' are but cancelling Ronaldo's contract and/or taking legal action are likely to be high on the list.

United remain solidly behind manager Erik ten Hag, who bore the brunt of a number of Ronaldo's criticisms. One Ronaldo claim was that Ten Hag only wanted to bring him on in the final minutes of last month's win over Tottenham to prove a point, Ronaldo adding that he has no respect for the Dutchman.

The club have also expressed pride in the club and its staff, who were derided by Ronaldo as part of his view of United being stuck in a time warp.

It is inconceivable Ronaldo can play for United again under Ten Hag, so the only way now is an exit.

This may not be straightforward. Ronaldo is the Premier League's highest-paid player and his contract will contain numerous clauses.

However, the club have vowed to act as quickly as they can. They won't want this hanging over them for any longer than is necessary.

How Ronaldo controversy has unfolded

It has been quite the week at Manchester United and for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since details of his much-publicised interview with Morgan emerged, it has felt like one drama after another as additional parts of their chat became public as the week went on.

Here's a quick guide to what has been said and by who:

  • Ronaldo said he feels "betrayed" by United, that the club had shown no "evolution" and that he was being forced out.
  • As more of his interview is released he says United's owners "don't care about the club".
  • The club acknowledges his interview and says it will "consider its response after the full facts have been established".
  • United defender Raphael Varane says the situation "affects" all of the players.
  • Ronaldo explains he was "close" to joining Manchester City but his "heart" took him back to United.
  • Morgan says Ronaldo is "very happy with the way things have played out" when reflecting on their interview.
  • United legend Peter Schmeichel says he still believes in "fairytales" and hopes Ronaldo can have a future at the club.
  • Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville says the club must terminate Ronaldo's contract.
  • Ronaldo reveals he rejected a £305m deal to join a Saudi Arabian club in the summer.
  • He said he turned it down as he was "happy" at Old Trafford and "motivated to do a great season".
