Potential problem dry hopping

Hi all.

I dry hopped an ipa on Thursday, with some cascade in a hop bag. I just cracked the lid and the bag is floating on top, thought it would of sank after a couple of days. Has this been a waste of the hops or will it be ok

They're light so they float. It always works for me.

Some people weigh them down with a sanitised spoon or other heavy object, not sure if it makes any difference.

I used to use a bag but leave them loose in the secondary now, beer still drops clear after the cold crash the hop residue just compacts down with the yeast.

Does dry hopping work during the cold crash? I wanted to dry hop again today but also need to cold crash as i only have time to bottle on Wednesday. Thanks

Apparently it does I have never tried it. Worth reading Perter Wolfes Thesis on dry hopping 92 pages but.
