Does anyone have a recipe for a potato wine? Or does anyone know if it's worth doing if they've tried it?

Few good recipes, but I'm looking to make some more unusual/surprising wines, I have a collection of more common recipes that I'll brew anyway, so there's some valued extras in the list you gave, but sadly there wasn't a potato wine recipe in them.

I had a taste of potato wine many years ago. My neighbor brought a bottle with an inch of sediment for me to try. It tasted fine, a bit fiery and sweet. She said its quite old, the man who made it had been dead 5 years!! THe recipe was the usual country one.. Juice and zest of 1 orange and one lemon, half a pound of raisins. Then boil 2 pounds of potatoes, in a gallon of water, pour the boiling water over the raisins etc. (eat the spuds). add 3 pounds of sugar and ferment. All the potatoes do is add a bit of body to the basic raisin/orange flavour. Takes years to clear I understand.

Alaskan Bootlegger's Bible has:
2lb potatoes, 2.5lb sugar 1lb raisins, 4 oranges or lemons, tsp tea, yeast , water
Says old spuds best but cut out eyes and green bits, peel and grate, bring to boil, pour water over sugar and raisins, cool, add citrus juice, tea and yeast
NB He'd be making a US gallon, 4/5 the size of ours.

You have just reminded me that the mother in law gave me 2 very old wine making books with recipes that I want to try. I'll look for the books tomorrow and post the potato wine recipe.
