So I’ve acquired a Diet Coke syrup 7ltrs and am wanting to make a turbo cider with this. I only tend to do 23 litre batches so how much of the syrup should I put in and when ?

To be honest i would stick to apple juice and use the Diet Coke for something else i cannot see it making something nice to drink especially as you don't know what quantity to use.

I've a vague memory of someone on here trying to make alcoholic coke and it simply wouldn't work. Something to do with the acidity of it killing the yeast?

I thought it was to be used as a flavouring and the sugar in the apple juice was for the alcohol..thus making a cola turbo cider.

That's what I assumed, but it's always worth making these things explicit when we're talking fermentation.

That figures, although Diet Coke (pH 3.1) isn't as bad as full-fat Coke (pH 2.37) (Table 3 here). Probably better to add after fermentation, or add some alkali to push the pH up a bit to allow for the acidity of diluting in cider/juice rather than in water?
