Hi all, new to the forum and getting back into brewing with the premise that 'm not going to pay for any store bought booze for the entire of 2013.

starting my first brew of the year tomorrow and it will be the first of many for an epic Febrewery to try some recipes out. Its a store bought juice concentrate recipe ive never tried so please let me know if you think it will turn out bad.

Sundays brew recipe is...

2L apple juice concentrate
1L red grape juice concentrate
sugar.... 200g?
1tsp citric acid
1tsp yeast nutrient
approx 2.5g champagne yeast

Happy brewing everyone!! :drunk:

Are you making that up to a gallon or what volume are you working to and what sort of alcohol content do you want it to make?

It seems to me that you're short on sugar.

Making it up to a gallon, looking for a highish alcohol content so would like to hit 12%

How much extra sugar should I use?

Thinking of adding a teabag in too now for some tannin....

I love brewdays!

cheers

Allowing for dilution after racking and topping up, I would aim for 250g sugar in the litre giving a net Original Gravity of 1.090

That's 1125g in a gallon

You've got around 350g in your fruit juices and so need to add 775g.

I would agree with the tea bag, make a mug of black tea and let it stew well.

Well I got a little heavy handed with the sugar yesterday....

Ended up using 1kg white granulated sugar. 200g light brown sugar plus what was in the juices. For some reason i just thought the bag of white sugar was 500g (instead of kg) and dumped it all in the pot.,. Doh! Damn rookie mistake!

Ended up with og of around 1120.

Its started up fine and nicely bubbling away as we speak so hopefully it will still turn out ok
