Hi everybody, i am looking for suggestions I made plum wine last year and is has been stored in my attic for 6 months and is still cloudy has anybody any suggestions to what I could do with it to clear the wine.

Regards David

Did you use pectolase ? If not you could try using finnings as a quick fix option, its worth a try. If that doesn't work then your down to filtering or as brumbrew says drinking in a mug. Nowt wrong with cloudy wine as long as it tastes good.

Finnings such as kwik clear http://www.simplynatural.org.uk/acatalog/Kwik_Clear_Wine_and_Beer_Finings.html work pretty good, if its a particularly heavy cloudiness they recommend a slightly larger dose per gallon (1ml for light particles up to 3ml for heavier/larger). Make sure the wine is degassed and give the finnings time to work, kwik clear is fast acting but it can take a while on the cloudier wines.

Use finnings as everyone else has said. My blackberry & sloe (similiar to plum) was cloudy even after months standing, used a little finnings clear as a bell in two days.

I'll try the pectolase then I've used kwikclear clear just now c how that goes thanks

kwik clear is my favourite fining its a shame i cannot get it locally so have to pay nearly the same as it costs again to get it posted.

Thanks, i usually get it from Lancaster as a work mate visits there fairly often but as is always the case you forget you are running low and you don't have enough the week he is not going, i am sure i will give you a shout soon. :thumb:
