I transferred from fv to keg today and had a little taste. It seems quite plasticky, any explanation for this?

I threw my first 3 at brews away because of this and it was down to using a length of hosepipe to supply the brews water. It was new pipe as well but since changing I haven't had the taste.

Interesting read pitsy. It might drop out on maturing it. If not ill look into my cleaning procedure

Hopefully you were dechlorinating your water prior to brewing with it. All public water supplies in most countries are disinfected to protect the public. Any chlorine or chloramine in the tap water will instantly combine with compounds in the malt and create chlorophenols that can be medicinal or plasticy. The Water Knowledge page of the Bru'n Water website provides some insight on dechlorination techniques.

I used some of alemans advice and used asda smart price water treated with gypsum. I didn't use any campden tablets in the water... would this be necessary with the water?
