For BIAB I would suggest getting the biggest vessel possible so you will be able to do a full volume mash. I have a 49L stock pot and find I have 7.5cm of head room with a low gravity beer (1.038) for 23L into fermenter. Holding back water is fine but just a bit of a pain as you will need a second vessel.

BIABrewer.info is by far the best place to read about the BIAB technique and equipment go check it out!!! also the BIABacus spreadsheet you can download for free is probably the best tool around for beer recipes, it can calculate and estimate all the volume for you.

Is only me that drinks it so I only plan to do batches that give 12 litres into packaging. Thanks for the comment about shiny not improving the taste of beer. Kind of commits me to plastic and cracking on with it.
I've already got several recipes done on biabacus ready to go

u can get a nice boiler ready PP 67l bucket from the copper kettle online brewshop..

or ebay has been selling mango barrels 50l for about £11 delivered.. mango barrels - hdpe softens more with boil heat than PP tho.

ive used both.. ;)

*Edit - thats them nobyipa is on the ball.

I didn't really want to use hdpe but rather pp so might go for the 60 litre version of what I originally posted

If cost is an issue plastic all the way!
Be sure you have some strategy in place to prevent bags catching on elements though, or you'll get a horrid fag-ashy flavour permeating your brews.
Best of luck with it :drink:
