with my recent deal with the local pub, methinks i'm going to be accumulating alot of empty (and hopefully alot more full) bottles.

now i need something to put them in to keep everything tidy!

anyone got any tips where i can get some of those stackable plastic bottle crates either really cheap if new, or second hand? as pubs dont generally let you have them, no matter how friendly you are with the landlord

You may be in luck BS.

One of the company's I visit through work is near a pop distributor. They have tons of crates that never seemed to move every time I went past. I went in and asked for some for my homebrew and I ended up getting 30 over a few visits (Four per 23L brew of 0.5L bottles). They hold 12 in each crate, quite tall and take 1.5litre bottles, but who cares as long as they stack and can be kept neat.

I remember seeing the same ones on the back of the beer bottling truck when Gordon Ramsey was making his beer.

I'll see if they're still available as I'm visiting this week. Can't promise anything but I can only try. :thumb:

If you lived in NZ BS you could get a nice wooden crate that holds 12 x returnable brown 750ml bottles for NZ$4.50(uk1.25)

But as you don't you can't.

So i'll just gloat by myself for a minute or two, laughing a bit...

i cant remember if magners bottles are slightly wider than your typical ale bottle :hmm: , they're definitely taller so the fact that they hold 1.5L bottles is definitely a bonus mate!

and 12 bottle capacity will be alot easier on my back

thanks for checking it out smod :thumb: i'll keep my fingers, toes and eyes crossed

 @ MEB

BrewStew, went to the pop company about the crates but alas they finish early on a Friday. I'll try to get there earlier next week.

Will keep you posted :thumb:

How many do you think you need?

I reckon I could get 8 in my car if they let me take that many. That's sufficient for (calculator out) 12*8=96 bottles. :drink: :drunk:
