Plain malt extract in a brew

Hi folks,

A pal of mine uses beer kits and stupidly used a can of unhopped plain malt extract instead of the can of ingredients he had purchased and didn't realise until after he'd added the yeast into his fermentation bucket. He doesn't really have facilities for extract brewing at home. Is there anything he can do to remedy this apart from bang his head against a wall? Let me know and I'll pass the info on to him.

probably boil some bittering hops and make a hop tea. strain it, cool it to desired temp then add it the fermenter .

Or add some hop extract, from a hb shop or online store.
