Visited the LHBS today and following a chat with a guy in the shop I bought some of these:

The guy said it acted to give more life to the ferment and said he'd never had a stuck ferment since he started to use them, in all his various beer brewing.
At 50p each they aren't likely to break the bank but I would be interested to here if anyone knows what it is and if anyone has experience of using it.

If you use it you will end up with a very dry, very thin, slightly more alcoholic beer.

I've used it and as the last post says it will ferment out a lot of the sugar that wouldn't be normally fermented, hence a dryer more alcoholic brew.

never needed it for a stuck brew tho'
