It seems that I am being dragged still further in and now feel the urge to buy pids and silicone tubing and even more shiny connectors from Kiowa.

I have a question about pids though. There are some on ebay from china at about £25 here

would these be ok they seem to take pt100 probes and do all the things I have read, they will only be used to heat the strike water and batch water to save me poxying around, was going to recirculate HLT and take temp at exit, then later maybe do same with mash Tun with a heat exchanger thrown in

I should not have seen the Butus 10 it is going to cost me

There are some skilled people out there. Or people with a lot of time on their hands. Or both.

Either way the build section highlights the fact that it didn't just spring up over night... there was an interesting picture in there though, I think Aleman's moonlighting across the pond:

Evil Evil man .... I have seen the Butus 10 a while ago and I was lusting then .... Now im more determined to have one similar.

I have only just seen this thread..as I am at a stage with my new brewery wondering should I go for PIDS :hmm: I have spent so much...I think I better wait!! But I love the Brutus 10..wow that is some brewery !

I have just gone to Pid's highwayman, It's not that much of a drak art just need to get it wired and set up, then life is a doddle. Strike temp is easy to acheive and don't have to worry about being around to check temps, and the Herms Pid well set the mash and walk away never have to worry about losing temp in the mash!
Come join us on the darker side of dark

Or you could pre heat and properly insulate your mash tun and not have to worry about losing temperature ;)

Some say he has reflective underwear, while others say he is the saviour of craggy island.... all we know is he is called the Vossy one
NO! I am the Stig!!
More buffing required me thinks

You'll always lose temperature in a system which can't re-introduce losses. A HERMS system will allow you to maintain/compensate your set temp, whatever external factors may be applied within reason. For the majority of homebrewers it's unimportant, as long as the losses aren't too great.
