Well, came home to find my delivery from the home brew company had arrived. I got a HBC all grain stout kit , various grains and hops to try an improvised version of a chocolate oatmeal stout over Christmas , some misc items, and two cider kits to keep miss brewdan happy!

Going to try and get to screwfix at some point this week to buy a couple of bits to build my wort chiller, and maybe just maybe I might give the Irish stout kit a bash.

It looks as though the Irish stout kit has been pre crushed, any ideas on how long it will keep as I can't see any dates?

Really looking forward to getting cracking with this, should be fun!! :-D

Photo of the grains , still living with the parents until the house is finished, so took the photo on the bed!

Edit:

Picture of some other recent purchases. Grain mill, 10m copper tube, Viking ball valve for the baby burco or mash tun, a couple of tap connectors and some hop/ grain bags

Most grain you buy comes already crushed/ground to save you the expense of a grinder.....
It will for several months no problem You can order it uncrushed from places like the Malt Miller if you really want to.

I'm looking forward to it, I can picture all those lovely grains sitting in some hot water releasing their tasty fermentable goodness!! Can't wait to smell it

I'm starting to worry myself now, and I've not even started.

This should be the start of something beautiful

Bit of a random question, but does anyone know if the used grains can be fed to a horse? I'm just trying to think of further uses for them. Maybe I will just eat them... Mmmm

Dog biscuits. That's a new one on me. If its not too much hassle might be worth it lol.

don't forget, if you have dog keep them away from the hops. They're poisonous to dogs. :thumb:

I heard about that on a video on YouTube the other day.

Ha ha, you can tell an old married man........

Most men imagine naked ladies rolling around in cream or chocolate...or what have you ( well I do... )

It takes something special to get excited over grains floating in luke warm water.. :D :D
