A Sinclair isn't that bad of a ride. Just a bit limited in range. The seat and steering configuration came straight out of the recumbent industry.
I never had one, but a company I worked for had one for demo purposes.

I am however an avid recumbent rider and have one with a very similar seat and steering configuration.

I don't know when that was written or where they may have sold many more.

Would you want to go down a busy road in something that low.

I wonder where all the unsold ones are.

Out of 14,000 C5s made, only 5,000 were sold before its manufacturer, Sinclair Vehicles, went into receivership.
The C5 has been described as "one of the great marketing bombs of post-war British industry" and a "notorious ... example of failure". Despite its commercial failure, the C5 went on to become a cult item for collectors. Thousands of unsold C5s were purchased by investors and sold for hugely inflated prices, as much as £6,000 compared to the original retail value of £399.
Enthusiasts have established owners' clubs and some have modified their vehicles substantially, adding bigger wheels, jet engines, and high-powered electric motors to propel their C5s at speeds of up to 150 miles per

That was 30 years ago. I wonder what the range would be now if fitted with an up to date battery in that space.

Reason I ask about batteries....I'm thinking of getting a powered fishing barrow as my weary bones won't stand carrying stuff or the manual push along I have any more. The standards come with 2 x 12v lead acid weighing about 10kg with a quoted range of about 3 miles with a load of 110kg. The improved version has a lithium battery set at around 1.5kg with range up to 9 miles,with a huge price increase...the weight saving is the interest for me plus the lithium retain the charge so won't need charging every use. Either way the whole contraption is expensive...around £700!
