As we have been discussing smart phones in the other thread i thought it might be interesting to see what apps members regularly use and why mine are a bit boring so i look forward to finding something useful posted by members.

Replaio Radio to stream radio stations while I'm on the train or at work. I used to use Tune In Radio until it started to go wrong right about the time they started stuffing it with ads and other junk. Replaio's one of the few apps I've thought it worth paying for.

Duolingo. I'm trying to learn a foreign language (stop laughing at the back; it's difficult when you get older!)

And all the BBC apps that Chippy's listed above.

I use two apps

"Talk to Me" lets you use your phone to talk to family and friends by entering their device's designated number.

"Meet Me At" Allows you to meet friends at a local hostelry by sending a string of alphanumeric characters, including the name of said hostelry and time you wish to meet, to their device's designated number.

Zello - turns your phone into a push-to-talk intercom over wi-fi or 3G/4G

DarkSky - very localised weather with rain radar

Vesselfinder - identify passing ships

Flightradar24 - identify passing aircraft

Does Replaio have podcasts in it?

For now I use TuneIn, quite a lot recently. Apart from that just browser and bbc weather app. Used to Have Pokemon Go - got bored of that.

I guess the same as the broadcast stream, so 128kbps quality will consume that much data. There is a setting to turn off cellular data use though.

I play 2048 a fair amount.

Whilst I've used Chrome as my browser on mobile and desktop for 10 years or so now there is an update coming which will basically disable adblocker so I guess I'll move to Firefox when that happens.

I do the vast majority of my banking through their apps.

Night sky is pretty cool. At night point the phone at the sky and it will tell you the stars etc. you're looking at.

YT Music - can listen to the audio of YouTube videos - great for listening to live gigs without having the video open. It's an official YT app. Also I use Google Play Music.

VLC player is my preferred video player on my phone.

I also use LastPass, everyone should be using a password keeper!

Apple Music - I listen to music to and from work, for doing my evening workouts and checking out the week’s new releases

Facebook - checking out everyone else’s perfect lives

JEFIT - logging my evening workouts

My Fitness Pal - trying to shift the 2 stone I gained stress eating in my old job. Keeps my eating in check.

Brewer’s Friend - for compiling recipes and logging brewdays

YT Music - can listen to the audio of YouTube videos - great for listening to live gigs without having the video open. It's an official YT app. Also I use Google Play Music.

Will check this out! YOutube is a great source for audiobooks but having the video running kills the battery.
