just read a “six uses” article for spent grain, one of which was using it to grow mushrooms. By all accounts, you sterilise some cardboard, mix it with grain and then whack it it a sterile box with some mushroom spore. Not a great deal out there on the web for small scale. Anyone ever tried it?

I've seen similar, using spent coffee grounds. Not sure how you'd go about sterilising cardboard, though.

They reckon you can boil it in the GF.

There's a couple of YouTubes on now to make a monobox.

Sounds intriguing. I'll let you know if I get hooked or not.

Something in the dark recesses of my brain is saying @Drunkula was talking about this a little while back. Or had possibly tried it?

Not me - I'd try it, though. I've been giving spent grain the the geese. They still won't stop bullying me.

You must be in the dark recesses of my mind for another reason then.

I'll try and figure out who it was.

Tesco sell 380g mushrooms for 82p. These would need to be some seriously good mushrooms from spent grain.
