Why cant we buy just ordinary pear juice these days? I know that some whites have a 'peary' taste, usually with citric undertones etc etc, like grigio sometimes. I know the apple WOW is good, but would the addition, or replacement of pear give it a bit more, erm, oomph?

and if so, where can I get some??!

hippyfood shops will have (or get) Rock's pear concentrate, but it's not cheap. I used it to make a perry when it was branded as Meridian, came out OK but not great, and nearly a quid a pint which is a lot for homebrew!
If you Google a bit you'll find various suppliers of pear juice - but none of it's cheap.
There's some in the Heinz (I think) babyfood range, but that's not cheap either.

would a natural pear puree work?

edit: actually, thats prob what was meant by the heinz range! sorry! Clearspring do a range of Organic Pear Puree, yet again, its a cost thing though

The Heinz one I was thinking of is a drink, IIRC a decent amount of pear and not too much sugar, but perhaps a bit dilute overall for brewing.

Pretty sure people have, like you can do wine with tinned strawbs.
Pear makes a lot of pulp. Not sure what the best way of dealing with it is.

There's also Lidl's Pear Nectar, of course - sensible price, watch out for the huge quantities of pulp you'll have to get rid of somehow at some stage.
