I'm just about to start a wine based on about half a kilo of my own pea pods, but fear it will be too light. I am thinking of combining it with a teabag recipe but don't know what to pair it with.
Any ideas welcome. Also how do you calculate the Original Gravity using fresh pea pods?
Thank you.

How about mint? Pea and mint soup is one of my favourites.

Ahh. I happen to have a lot of fresh mint growing too. That will probably work. May turn out a little greener too.

Be careful with the mint quantity you use, I hear it can taste like mouthwash if you overdo it...

Also what about nettle tea? I wonder what that would taste like with pea pod

Pea-pod burgundy the old good life favorite. ;)

Nice wine but can take a wee while to mature.

You don't need to "calculate" the gravity just add sugar until you get to the desired strength on your hydrometer.

The sugar in the pea pods is negligible in the grand scheme of things.

If you don't have a hydrometer add about 2,1/2 lb or one bag of sugar per gallon this will give you a good table strength wine.
More pea-pods will improve the flavor,
It may smell a bit strange when first done but that goes completely during maturation. 6 months or so.

Don`t forget to add a bit of acid at the start,(Tartaric)One level tea-spoon per gallon is a good starting point,a bit more if you live in a hard water area.
Makes a BIG difference.
