Parents' anger over Build-A-Bear 'pay your age' offer

Another day and another article makes me wonder what the world is coming to "Parents have said they will no longer shop at Build-A-Bear Workshop" is not getting a cheap bear all they have to worry about, we really are doomed.

Parents have said they will no longer shop at Build-A-Bear Workshop, after its cheap teddy offer caused queues of up to eight hours.

The toy shop was offering UK customers a chance to buy any bear for the price of their child's age.

Families who tried to take part criticised the "badly handled" event and said their children were left disappointed because of the demand.

The company has issued vouchers to all UK Build-A-Bear Bonus Club members.

Police were called to the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds when queues of "about a mile long" formed on Thursday.

You say that, my mum did toy with the idea of going for the grandkids, but as none of them could come along as they were all at school she didn’t bother

An amusing story, this. #2 Daughter and then Boyfriend went to Build a Bear several years ago and came back with a Frankenstein Bear that was also hideously expensive.
I sort of admire being able to persuade grown humans that a composite soft toy is worth 10 times the going rate, but only in abstract terms. I was bloody annoyed with said daughter for wasting money on obvious crap.
Seeing the victims waiting for 8 hours to buy something quite that ugly has to be a very real comment on our society.
These people can vote, if they ever get out of the queue. Should they just stay in line?

Dont tell your kids your destination on days out into town, ffs thats parenting 101 as it gives you the tantrum and hassle free get out when you arrive and see queues not conducive to a good day out..

#1 it diminishes the surprise and enjoyment for the kids, and
#2 commits them to standing in line for disappointment amongst a throng of disgruntled and tantrum throwing kids who got bored after 5 minutes waiting..

when if the kids are ignorant of the 'surprise' destination it can be switched to the cinema or even mcdonalds at your whim

obviously some are far too stoopid to have kids in the first place.
