Palisade Smash ?

Anyone used Palisade hops?

I got given 120g (4oz?) of them at Leeds Hop City beer fest a while ago, and am wondering what to do with them.

I am fairly new to this, and so was thinking of something simple like a single malt single hop brew.

So was thinking something along these lines:

4.2Kg Marris Otter

16g Palisade @ 60min boil
24g Palisade @ 10min boil
24g Palisade hop stand
56g Palisade dry hop

Any suggestions or changes gratefully accepted (but like I say as a newb I don't want to get too complicated).

Assuming a 23litre batch, that will give you around 4% ABV - from a target starting gravity of 1.041

Not sure what alpha acid your Palisade hops are, but default in Brewersfriend software is 7.5% alpha acid.

Assuming thats about right you are only getting to around 19 IBU's of bitterness with your current hop schedule.

Not sure how bitter you like your beer but the following schedule gets you to 30IBU's which is fairly tame:
30g Palisade @ 60min boil
25g Palisade @ 10min boil
25g Palisade hop stand
40g Palisade dry hop

Or the following gets you to 40IBU's, which is entering fairly bitter (but not stupidly so) IPA territory - this is where I would aim !
40g Palisade @ 60min boil
30g Palisade @ 10min boil
25g Palisade hop stand
25g Palisade dry hop

Also worth mentioning - at flame out it can be worth chilling to just under 80°C before popping your hop stand hops in and leaving to steep for 20 mins at just under 80°C before chilling to yeast pitching temp - ensures you don't get any bitterness increase from that hop stand addition.
