Hi,

I want to brew some English ales and I'm located in Portugal. The only Pale Ale malt the homebrew shops seem to sell here is from Belgium (Castle Malting). Obviously, it will work but will there be much difference between using this and a UK malt?

Also, for all grain brewing, should I use whole or crushed grains?

Thank you!

The chateau pale ale malt they sell is around the same lovibond as MO, so it should be ok I guess. You want it crushed rather than whole. Hope that helps! Hopandgrape ship internationally by the way - don't know what the delivery charges would be in comparison with prices in your homebrew shop though.

I bought a sack of Dingemans pale malt last year, and that makes a fantastic English ale. It's lovely stuff, not that different from MO. I bet the Castle Maltings stuff will be too.
