Hi,

I experienced something strange tonight.. I have been happily drinking my Wherry which has been conditioning for about 4 weeks. It was improving every time I tried one. So much so that I have got through about 30 bottles already

So, I had one tonight expecting yet further improvement... and yuk. Really bitter tasting. Thought I was imagining it so ploughed on through, ended up having about 3/4 and decided I couldn't finish it. Had to open another one straight away to see what was going on. Think the second one was ok, but my taste was still tainted from the first. Just had a 3rd for quality testing and it is back to normal, phew.

I am hoping someone can shed some light on why this may have occurred. As I said I have had about 30 bottles so far which have been fine so I am baffled.

Thanks

Thats kind of what was going through my mind. As far as I am aware I treated all the same, fill will a small amount of sanitiser (chlorine based), shake a few times, leave for 10 mins or so and rinse 3 times.

Maybe I just missed one.. Oh well, you live and learn

Had the same myself with one of my beers... I just put it down to either some trub in bottom of glass didn't get cleaned out, or I didn't rinse properly...

At least was a good excuse to sample a couple more ;)

Might be worth trying a no-rinse sanitiser (e.g. starsan or videne) after the clean. You would hope there were no nasties in your tap water which you use to rinse the bottles with but you never know!

After I clean with VWP or oxy I rinse out with water, then a quick blast with starsan. Empty out and fill bottles.
