Evening all,

doing a little future planning and wondering, if I converted my 33l brew pot to electric, would it be best to go with 2 x 2.2kW elements from an Argos kettle, or would one be sufficient? or do you guys recommend going for something like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310759398910? ... 1423.l2649

appreciate your thoughts and comments. :)

would get 2 we had the same element and although it gave a boil it really wasnt powerful enough. You could always switch one off if the boil was too vigorous :thumb:

One would be sufficient, but things do go wrong with them especially the cheap ones so a second is always good as a back up. I can get 60L to a rolling boil just about with one butit takes for ever so I use two. However once boiling I switch one off but i alternate them every 30 minutes or so, which isn't a bad idea what ever volume you are using. :thumb: :thumb:

Depends on the size of the element. If you go for a bigger element then you could get away with one. If you go for 2 then don't forget that you need to plug them into different sockets to spread the current flowing.

I agree with GA's comment above.

thanks all!

one follow up question if I may... I'm assuming people have been using the Tesco/Argos kettles for years. Has there been any issue with the elements changing and requiring a different size hole in the pot?

I use Argos value elements. For ages I only had 1 in each pot but I've just installed a 2nd to each. Not to get a better boil but get there quicker and in case 1 dies mid brew. The 2.2kw element will get a decent boil starting with around 30l.
