I have a 1 pound bag of East Kent Goldings which were from last years harvest. They have been stored in the original sack type bag in a cool dark cupboard all this time and was wondering whether they would still be any good.

A friend got them for me whilst working at a Kent Hop Farm so what do you think.

Use them to make a Lambic beer! Lambic brewrs deliberately get hops and leave them to age in big hessian sacks in their brewery before they get used so that the bittering qualities lessen but the preservative qualities endure.....

Apologies for the late reply.

I opened the bag up earlier and Wow!!, I haven't seen anything that dry since standpipes in the 70's when I was a kid.

I thought it would be a good idea to feed them into the open fire until the oldest daughter shouted down and asked what the sweaty, fusty smell was.
