Hi Folks
I'm Phill (aka Zyderboy) and am based near Swindon, in the Wiltshire countryside. I have been pressing cider for the past 5 Autumns, growing the scale and detail of the operation each year (the first year my brewing buddy and I ended up seeing the GP for a course of Omeprazole!).
Wine making has been an 'on & off' thing over the past few years, trying a variety of garden based brews (usually rhubarb features somewhere!) though I love to make Damson Port wine every summer.
Currently well into beer brewing again, since I realised things had come on a lot since the 'Boots Kit' from my student days. So now I have a cupboard full of several varieties of hops, grains, malt extracts etc. In fact I really like to 'take it all outdoors' and have a burner rigged in a washing machine drum and tapped into my BBQ gas cylinder, and the back garden and the countryside are becoming increasingly a source of ingredients.
With that in mind, does anyone know how I can cheaply source some female hop rhizomes or even plants of known varieties (Fuggles & Goldings I'm guessing)
Currently I have bottled:
120 pints local apple scrumpy cider
30 pints of porter
40 pints of barley wine
and 40 pints of an 'Old Peculier' style ale on secondary ferment in a pressure keg.
I would be pleased to meet up with local brewers, and even attend the odd group or club session to learn more, so please drop me a line!
