Landlord.
Having decided to get back into home brewing after a short (20 year!) break I've invested in some new kit which is on its way.
I do still have 2 Boots pressure barrels from my homebrewing past.
The barrels are a bit grubby after 20 years at the back of my Dad's garage but seem to be otherwise ok. The white one has a lid with seals and a pressure release valve as well as a CO2 injector. The brown has a lid with just one hole, no valve, no gas and no seal.
Questions
Which seals should I use? (I'd like to replace all of them not just the missing one). When I look for the 4" seals for the cap they seem to come in KingKeg and Hambleton Bard types...any ideas which (if any) will fit?
What's the best gas option for the brown barrel? Does an S30 fitting take the small CO2 bottles, I do have a Soda Stream gas tank that I think might be quite full, as well as some of the small bottles for the gas injector on the old barrel.
What about the lack of a pressure relief valve on the brown barrel? This doesn't sound like a good idea! Can I fit a valve by drilling a hole? If so what type of valve? Or would a new lid be a better option? If so, back to question 1...do I want a KingKeg or Hambleton Bard lid?
Thanks :wha:
