Old Boots 'cup style' airlock question

Just transferred some Parsnip wine from FV to DJ then realised I had no new rubber bungs / airlocks ( idiot! )

I have made do with an old DJ cork which I have sterilised and drilled to take a very old Boots airlock that I found. It is similar to this. Research shows that this type of airlock has tiny holes in the lid but this one does not appear to have any and if I snap the top section down it seems quite tight.

Question is, should I just leave this perched on the top loosely or snap it into place in the hope that something will still escape the lid? Will replace with proper bung soon as!

Sterilse and top up airlock with water and half a camden and snap in place. I don't like those airlocks they tend to dry up and prefer the bubblers for long storage and ferments.

Thanks Tau, have used Star San in the lock and I agree, much prefer the bubblers. Is the Home Brew Shop one of the 5% forum discount venues as I may get some Kenridge red as well.
