Hi all,

Ive got some Geordies Lager thats been fermenting for 7 days now, problem being the reading is the same 2 days running at 1.010 and the instructions are saying 1.005. What will this be like if i bottle now?

Many thanks

Hey,

You could bottle now, i'd transfer to another FV and leave for another week. Patience is a virtue......., the FG might drop a bit more and more than likely you will end up with a clearer beer.

ok thanks for the advice,

When you transfer to another FV do i transfer all inc sediment? sorry to sound like an ***** but unsure

Leave the sediment! some people keep the brew in one FV for two weeks, but I prefer to rack off after one, my own personal preference is that it helps to produce clearer beer, so leave the sediment behind as much as you can then when you bottle/keg you should pretty much retain what you have left. At this stage it really is personal preference and it's good to experiment as what suits you best. -The only way you will progress is by asking!

ahhh super, i will try your way and see. I plan on making plenty more so i can try the 2 week 1 FV at a later time.

Thanks for your help

I finished the same kit not long ago (it was my first kit) after 7 days i put it in a second fv and left it for 3 days then bottled it and its cleared fine and tastes good to so i think it will be good to bottle :thumb:

with my cider kit. it reccomended going down to 0.998 FG when i started with 1.050. but it only went down to 1.004 (after 3 days measurements with the hydrometer). i bottled it then. (although bottling you should not bottle higher than 1.008)

like Eradite said. put it in another Fermentation Vessal (FV) and then leave it for a bit longer before bottling. i may try this kit myself.

Cheers

Andy
