Hi everyone,

was so much looking forward to a couple of pints of Docklands Porter last night only to find that the barrel has lost pressure, only had about 6 pints from the barrel and had been careful not to pour too many in one evening, so that cant be the reason.

I have a standard barrel so cant give it a squirt of pressure as you can with the better barrels, wonder if it could have happened because the barrel is kept in a shed and we have had some cold nights recently, i applied vaseline to the top thread and seal so dont think the pressure would have leaked out there.

Anyway, just hope the Beer will keep for a few days before i can get to my local homebrew shop and get a gas injection lid for my barrel.

Take it im not the first to have this problem.

I guess its all a learning curve

Theres a few reasons this can happen. Like you said, its most likely down to cool temps, did you get a good head on it? My xmas beers are currently.carbed but with no head - they need longer in the warm.
It can also be overtightened or undertightened, its important to get the right area - not damagingly tight, but capable of pressure.
Failing that your o rings could be buggered, take the lid to the shop and ask if it looks okay.

yes, the first half dozen pints had a good head.

Do you think the beer will last a few days before i can get into town and buy a gas injection lid?
