I've always treated my water with half a campden tab to remove any chlorine it's so cheap and easy to do why not?
I was surprised recently though when I did a brewday with blackjack they don't bother. Then last week I did a tour at cloudwater and they don't either. Both obviously treat there water chemistry to suit the beer style being brewed that day,
You've hit the nail on the head there:)

I am going to start to use RO water
its £3 for 5 gallons from my local tropical fish shop
and £1 extra for delivered
If you are doing AG will you not have to start adding certain minerals to assist in the mash?
I am assuming you would have to!

You'll probably find that breweries have a HLT that is always hot, and most likely refilled from the plate chiller, this will probably be enough to gas off any chlorine. Secondly IIRC Manchester has low carbonate water which requires little to no acid treatment added for carbonate reduction.

The boil should remove most of it, so a campden tablet is probably more critical if you're doing kits or extract with a short boil time. The beauty of a campden tablet is that breaks chlorine down into chloride and sulphate which is generally good news for all grain brewers.

I was told on another forum that I don't need to as it all come from the grain

Unless you're brewing a lager you really shouldn't use untreated RO water. You'll probably find your beers a little bland if you do.

You will still need to add minerals. My beer has improved a lot since I started to adjust it using strangsteves water thread. Also if you can squeeze it in you can get a decent RO system for under £150. One of the best things I have ever bought. Water tastes amazing and my family love it.
