******* number one. Earlier today animal control came to the property where I'm staying to impound a horse that a friend of the owner left here for an emergency 2-3 week stay (almost four months ago). The owner of the horse would sometimes go 3-5 days between feeding it. She's been offered at least two other much better places to take the horse, but refused. After several warnings the horse got impounded.
******* number two. Animal control brought along a sheriff. As soon as the sheriff pulled into the property a guest of one of the other people living here took off running into the woods. The sheriff's visit had nothing to do with him; all he had to do was not attract attention to himself.

OMG. ******* number one just came by. She had the official seizure papers from the county in her hand acting befuddled claiming, "The pen was dry". This pen was a goat pen and nowhere near big enough for this horse to fit into. By California law a horse must be fed regularly and provided shelter from the weather; we're now well into rainy season and the horse was obviously malnourished.
